Just Jasper (Canadian Rockies Trip Part III)
This is the third installment in my Canadian Rockies Trip 2018 series. Be sure to read my posts on Banff, and Yoho and Kootenay. In this post, I will share photos I took in Jasper National Park.
This is a view of Waterfowl Lakes along the Icefields Parkway.
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge awaits!
The lobby of the Fairmont has a mid-century feel.
The main lodge almost looks Polynesian to me.
Heading down to Lac Beauvert.
The lake in the afternoon.
Looking even more beautiful at sunset.
The oft-photographed boat house.
Look at that turquoise blue water!
A boat cruise on Maligne Lake offers you an opportunity to get lots of photos.
A dramatic view of a glacier.
Approaching Spirit Island. It takes the better part of a day to canoe out here!
Spirit Island is sacred to the indigenous people, who have been coming here for centuries. No one is allowed on Spirit Island for that reason.
Our tour guide jokingly told us this was the Maligne Lake Golf Course.
Views along Maligne Lake Road.
Another view on Lac Beauvert.
Lac Beauvert at night.
Stanley, the hotel mascot.
I didn't make use of the pool, but I got a photo of it.
The geese everywhere reminded me of my college days in Oswego, NY.
Jasper has lots of waterfalls. This is Athabasca Falls.
Another view along the Icefields Parkway.
Next up was Sunwapta Falls.
On the drive back to the hotel, a stop at Medicine Lake allowed me to take this photo.
I took this photo near Columbia Icefield.
Stay tuned for my next (and final) post in this series, with photos I took in the Lake Louise area!
